Distortion and demolition of air molecules, modeled.
Explosive transient redesigner.
Point is kind of like a ZVex Fuzz Factory or some such mad hardware device: the range of settings DOES include ‘out of control’, and it’s such a simple ‘circuit’ that it does little to restrain things when you Go Too Far and operate it in a state that will explode.
Drive hides nothing. It’s all about grit and crunch, not smooth. Go ahead and try it and see. If your sole purpose for an overdrive plugin is to make stuff ‘big and fat and thick’ then you want Density. But if you’re reaching for a distortion because you have some sound, a bass, a snaredrum, and you just want to make it sound ANGRY: not so much fat or forward or gritty or edgy, but just plain straight up pissed off… then you may want to have Drive around.
Replace your Tube Screamer (plugin OR REAL DEAL) with this plugin, to get ‘scrunch’ and subs conditioning, but without the sponginess that even hardware TS9s have.
FabFilter Saturn 2 is a multiband distortion, saturation and amp modeling plug-in, with lots of modulation options.
From mild tone-shaping or adding a bit of grit to full-on total waveform destruction, Kombinat Tri is a complete toolbox of sonic warfare, and a complete top-to-bottom rebuild of our popular Kombinat series.
With 13 different options in each of the three distortion engines (plus pass-through), Kombinat Tri is capable of sophisticated and unique sounds. Want to add a ring mod to the low end, a mild tube clip to the mids, and a bit-reduction algorithm to the high end? No problem. Want to run your signal through three sine-warps or fuzz algorithms in series? This is your box.
Kombinat's signal structure allows for a fairly broad palette of sounds, as each segment of the overall effect is a versatile tool in its own right. On the front end is a full "DJ-style" band-killer EQ; this leads to the three distortion engines, which may be used in multi-band mode for subtle surgery, or in series mode for complete signal destruction. The engines lead to a multi-mode filter with 12 different topologies, and then on to a compressor which we have configured for one-control operation.
From tube-style saturation to full-on mangled wavetable distortion, Grind is a true powerhouse of audio warfare that puts the "damage" in Audio Damage.
Make no mistake: this is not a subtle, polite tool. While it can be tamed for usual filtering and saturation duties, at heart it is a noisy, snorting beast of a plug-in, and is happiest with Full Metal audio destruction.
Grind consists of a wavetable based waveshaper, a saturation/distortion module and a multi-mode filter - each with a myriad of distinct flavors. Grind's tonal flexibility makes it a Swiss Army Knife for sound design.
MangledVerb™ is a unique effect combining reverb and distortion. Ported directly from the award-winning H9 Harmonizer®, MangledVerb is capable of creating lush reverbs, ripping distortion leads and sound-sculpting musical chaos. Guitarists have used it for years to create signature sounds and now you can have it in your favorite DAW.
MangledVerb starts with a variable pre-delay which feeds a stereo reverb into a complex distortion effect. Sonically it can range from the light friction of a bow scraping a cello string to the mayhem of a caged beast being poked with a red hot flounder.
